Welcome to the Website of the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land!   I am glad you are looking us over, and hope to meet you in person.

For over a century, First Presbyterian Church has been worshiping and serving God through Jesus Christ, with the help of the Holy Spirit, here in Sugar Land. I have just been part of that story for eight years, since February 2011, but this has been a meaningful time for me.  I am thankful that God called me to serve here, and I encourage you to come and visit us.

We come from many different places. A few of us grew up in old Sugar Land and remember when it was a company town. Others came from halfway across the world.  Some of us have been members of the congregation for decades, and others for just a few days or weeks.  On World Communion Sunday in October, you might hear people read a Bible verse in Bassa, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, Spanish, or Vietnamese--or in a variety of regional accents in English. But we are one church family, in Christ.

We come together to worship and to learn about God, and to pray for one another.  We study God's Word on Sunday mornings and more than once during the week.  We work at putting into practice what we learn, living into being a church family, enjoying fellowship with one another,  serving our neighbors, sharing the Gospel in word and deed. Mission is very important to many of us.  We contribute to and work with East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, and our youth have gone on mission trips to Inner City Dallas. We also work with Family Promise, opening our facility to house families that are temporarily homeless for several weeks out of the year. Members of all ages help with this special ministry. We welcome children from across the community to Apple Tree School, with the hospitality of Christ.

I hope you will come see First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land for yourself. And I hope that you will feel at home, among family, and in the Lord's presence.
